What is Swift Water Rescue ? 

Swift Water Rescue (SWR) is specialized technical rescue for fast-moving water, using trained personnel, ropes, and watercraft to save people from dangerous currents, floods, or rapids, focusing on leveraging water power safely with techniques like throw bags, highlines, and boat operations, crucial for floods or river incidents. It involves advanced skills in hydrology, rope systems, self-rescue, and teamwork, distinct from standard water rescue due to the immense force of moving water.

Seneca Hose Company #1 is proud to maintain a highly trained and well-equipped Swift Water / Flood Rescue team.
We have a varitey of level 1 and 3 members, ready to respond to high-risk water emergencies in all conditions.

Our current capabilities include:

• Level 3 - Technician

• Level 2 - Operations

• Level 1 - Awareness

Our team is fully outfitted with:

• Dry suits for cold-water and hazardous environments
• A swift water rescue boat powered by a 40HP jet drive motor, designed for fast, agile maneuvering in shallow or debris-filled water

Seneca Hose responds as part of both:

• The West Seneca Water Rescue Team
• ALERT Region 1 activations, supporting regional and multi-agency operations
