Membership Options

Percentage-Based Membership

Live near the firehouse? This is for you!
Applicants must reside in West Seneca Fire District #5, the Boundary Fire District, or within ½ mile of District #5 borders.

Requirements include:

• Attend 6 Company Meetings and 4 Company Work Details

• Complete 25% of District functions (calls, trainings, etc.) during probation

• Complete 10% of Company/District functions after probation

Duty Shift Program

Perfect for committed members who live elsewhere in Erie County.
Serve on a flexible schedule and contribute meaningful hours each month.

Requirements include:

• Complete 288 hours per year

• Minimum 16 hours/month, maximum 36 hours/month for LOSAP credit

• Live anywhere within Erie County, NY

EMS Only Program

Perfect for committed members who are interested in EMS only. No firematic classes required.
Member will serve in either a duty-shift capacity or as a percentage-based member, in accordance with department requirements. 

Requirements include:

• Possess a valid New York State EMT-Basic, EMT-Advanced, or Paramedic Certification OR obtain within one year of joining

• Must possess and keep certification current for the duration of membership

• Requirements set forth as percentage or duty shift member

• Live anywhere within Erie County, NY

Minimum Requirements

• Age 18 or older and out of high school

• Reside in the required area depending on membership type

• Provide 3 letters of character reference (non-family)

• No arson or felony convictions

• Be physically capable of performing firefighter duties
