Seneca Hose Company #1 offers 2 types of Membership, Percentage Based and Duty Shift Program. Please click on the following link for more information on the Duty Shift Program requirements.

Percentage Based Membership: The applicant must live in West Seneca Fire District #5 or Boundary Fire District, or within 1/2 mile of the borders of West Seneca Fire District #5. You will need to attend at least 25% of all Company and 25% of District Functions (calls, trainings, etc.) for your probationary year, and 10% of all Company and District functions after that.

Duty Shift Program: Applicants must reside in Erie County, NY. Duty Shift members will be required to do a minimum of 288 hours annually (Minimum 16 hours per month, Maximum 36 hours per month). Shifts run in 4 hour incriments, maximum 12 hours per 24 hours. Please click here for all Duty Shift requirements.

Also, we recently adopted a Member’s Scholarship Fund for any active Firefighter to use while attending college or trade school part time or full time.

 Minimum Requirements 

• The applicant must be 18 years of age or older and out of high school.
• The applicant must live in the Town of West Seneca Fire District #5 or Boundary Fire District, or within 1/2 mile of the borders of West Seneca Fire District #5 for Percenatge Based Membership, or a reisdent of Erie County, New York for Duty Shift Program.
• The applicant must provide three letters of character reference which must be submitted with this application. (They shall not be family members)
• The applicant must not have any arson convictions or felony convictions.
• The applicant should not have any serious physical limitations that would hinder his ability to perform the duties of a firefighter.
